Online Lactation Clinical Program

The Begin Ed India team, in partnership with the Association of Lactation Professionals India (ALPI), is proud to present the Online Lactation Clinical Skills Program (OLCP). Originally conceived as an in-person training, the program successfully transitioned online in 2020 and has been nurturing lactation professionals through biannual batches ever since.

The OLCP is designed to build your practical knowledge and confidence. The curriculum focuses on developing essential skills, including clinical assessment, history-taking, effective communication, and medical terminology. The goal is to equip you to provide excellent, ethical support to families at various stages while building trust and rapport.

Learning is structured into a progressive pathway to ensure a strong foundation for all participants, regardless of experience level. The journey begins with Course A, which uses case studies to establish core skills. This is followed by Course B, which tackles more complex cases, and Course C, where you learn to present cases yourself. After completion, Course D offers individualized mentoring. For advanced graduates, there is an opportunity to train as a clinical instructor, helping to grow the community.

OLCP fosters a safe, interactive learning environment with small batches of 5-10 students. Sessions are built around case discussions, encouraging you to share experiences and ask questions under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Possible Topics:

  • Breastfeeding: Normal Sucking and Swallowing
  • Breastfeeding and Perinatal Neuroscience
  • Impact of Birth Practices on Suck
  • How Infants Learn to Feed: A Neurobiological Model
